What Al-'Afuww means
Al-'Afuww means the Pardoner. Scholars explain that 'afw is even more than forgiveness: the sin is wiped away completely, as if it never happened. 'A'ishah asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) what to say on Laylat al-Qadr, and he taught her: 'Allahumma innaka 'Afuwwun tuhibbul-'afwa fa'fu 'anni', O Allah, You are the Pardoner and You love to pardon, so pardon me (at-Tirmidhi).
