What Ash-Shahid means
Ash-Shahid means the Witness, who is present with His knowledge everywhere and sees everything. Nothing happens without Him witnessing it (85:9). On the Day of Judgement He needs no other witness, yet He will let even people's hands and skins bear witness about what they did (36:65, 41:20).

ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ شَهِيدٌ
يَوْمَ يَبْعَثُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ جَمِيعًۭا فَيُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا عَمِلُوٓا۟ ۚ أَحْصَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُ وَنَسُوهُ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ شَهِيدٌ
Living by this name
Be honest in your words and dealings, because Allah is your witness. Pray: O Allah, You are witness over me; make me among the truthful.
