What Al-Hafiz means
Al-Hafiz means the Preserver and Protector. He keeps the heavens and the earth in place, keeps a record of every deed, and protects His servants from harm. He has also protected the Qur'an from any change (15:9).

فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَقَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكُم مَّآ أُرْسِلْتُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَيْكُمْ ۚ وَيَسْتَخْلِفُ رَبِّى قَوْمًا غَيْرَكُمْ وَلَا تَضُرُّونَهُۥ شَيْـًٔا ۚ إِنَّ رَبِّى عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ حَفِيظٌۭ
قَالَ هَلْ ءَامَنُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا كَمَآ أَمِنتُكُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَخِيهِ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ فَٱللَّهُ خَيْرٌ حَٰفِظًۭا ۖ وَهُوَ أَرْحَمُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ
Living by this name
Guard Allah's limits and He will guard you, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) taught Ibn 'Abbas (at-Tirmidhi). Pray: Ya Hafiz, protect me, my family and my faith.
