What As-Salam means
As-Salam means the One who is perfect and free from every defect, and the Source of all peace and safety. Peace in the heart, in the home and in the world comes from Him. Paradise is called Dar as-Salam, the Home of Peace (10:25), and the Muslim greeting is 'As-salamu 'alaykum'. After each obligatory prayer the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Allahumma antas-Salam wa minkas-salam, tabarakta ya Dhal-Jalali wal-Ikram' (Muslim).
